VirtoTech was founded in 2022 by Christian Wirtz & Thomas Sayer, two industry recognised leading recruiters in the European technology space. They shared a vision of a different kind of technology contract recruitment: simple, specialised and effective.
Curious about the story behind VirtoTech's inception and its journey to success? Get ready for an exclusive look as we dive into an insightful interview with Thomas Sayer.
What inspired you to establish VirtoTech, and what gap in the market did you aim to address?
Having worked in the contract technology market for over 10 years, we saw that a large part of the market is still dominated by some of the larger players. We were having conversations with clients & candidates on a regular basis who felt they were dealing with companies who offered them everything, however, were lacking true market expertise. This, coupled with general declining service levels across the industry inspired us to establish VirtoTech - allowing us to address both these points.
Could you share a defining moment or milestone in VirtoTech's journey that shaped its growth and success?
Too many to count! Obviously, the trust that our first clients & contractors gave us, helped set us up and grow to where we are today. Being nominated by APSCo Deutschland for Start-Up Company of the Year with only 9 months of trading provided us with the recognition and understanding that we made the right decision!
How does VirtoTech differentiate itself from other tech recruitment companies, particularly in terms of culture and approach?
Culture is hugely important to us. We’re in the people business and firmly believe if we look after our people, first and foremost, they will look after our clients & candidates. We believe in the “inch wide and a mile deep” approach and all our consultants have a technology focus coupled with continuous training in their respective fields. This allows us to best advise our clients and candidates rather than a generalist “account management” approach.
Looking ahead, what are the key goals and aspirations for VirtoTech in the next few years, and how do you plan to achieve them?
Similar to a number of businesses we partner with, we have aggressive growth plans over the next few years. Having invoiced over £1million in our first FY, we’re expecting to triple that in our second and that’s all I’ll say for now.
How are we going to achieve that? With our amazing team we already have in place, investing in their development coupled with key hires over the next few months. VirtoTech is an exciting place to be!
